Proposed $38,000 Pay Raise for NYS Lawmakers is Outrageous!
COLONIE, NY – Frank Mauriello (Assembly Candidate for the 110th District) today
issued the following statement on Senate Bill S9329:
“This legislation might be the most outrageous thing you read all week, aside from your
National Grid bill. A proposed $38,000 pay raise for New York State lawmakers should
be the last thing on the table right now – especially as families across our state sit at
their own kitchen tables trying to make ends meet. It’s clear some elected officials value
their affordability over our own.
In the 110th District, we have an Assemblyman who rakes in six figures of outside
income on top of a $142,000 figure taxpayer-funded salary. He doesn’t understand the
financial challenges everyday residents face in our community. Today I am challenging
Phil Steck to say whether or not he will forgo any outside income collected above
$35,000, as is required by state law. He should also be asked about his position on this
pay raise proposal.
I am committed to being a full-time Assemblyman. My opponent is controlled by special
interest groups and has clearly lost interest in the job, based on his recent attempts to
run for Albany County District Attorney and New York State Supreme Court judge.”
